1-2-3: To Pause or Not to Pause

Happy Thursday!

Welcome to Ponderer's 6th edition.

Here are 1 idea to ponder, 2 resources to skill up, and 3 tools to try out.

Let’s do it.

PONDER THIS

Ponderer.ai - Big Idea of the Week [Edition 6]

. The Big Idea .

Joshua Becker said:

"The first step in crafting the life you want is to get rid of everything you don't."

To an extent, that is what those in favor of pausing AI are doing.

Pausing it means keeping alignment with the life they want, whether driven by fear, conflict of interest, or a genuine concern for humanity.

The same applies to those in opposition.

People come to love their oppression and adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think. This is not a mere conversation about AI. It's about power. It's about the history of human nature: our capacity for good and evil at scale.

At Ponderer, we find joy in building meaningful, impactful, and rewarding things.

To do so, we must remove two things:

  1. Paralyzing perfectionism

  2. Fear of missing out on the latest

Getting rid of 90 things out of 100 is the easy part.

The hard part is getting rid of the top 9 out of 10 so we can focus on "the one thing."

What's the ONE thing I can do such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary? —Gary Keller

The more and more we use AI:

  1. The more we want it

  2. The faster we want everything

  3. And the less patience we practice

The problem isn't AI noise itself; a bigger problem is that we depend on it to feel relevant, and it is primarily driven by FOMO [fear of missing out].

Many are in a race to be #1 and beat the competition.

Others are simply struggling to catch up.

As a result, we add more stress, anxiety, and overwhelm.

We are not the exception, you know.

That's why we practice expansion via elimination.

🐢 Slow: The more we use AI, the more we get frustrated at our slow human speeds. Should we slow down to speed up? The turtles in our backyard are pretty fast. 🤔

🧠 Brain Food: We used to compare ourselves with perfect-looking, Instagram photoshopped models. Where is our self-esteem going now? 🤳

🧀 Cheese: Is there something more relevant than AI right now? How about what is happening with our U.S. dollar? Mice are eating our cheese. We've had enough and are buying mouse traps! 🪤
